Not really, the satellite table can be as wide as you like and depending on the velocity of data it could be churning out thousands of micro-partitions with every update if you allowed end-dates on it. Leaving the satellite as insert-only does not and you can set the current-pit to be a transient table

That means the satellite table keeps the fail-safe + time-travel (live backups) whilst the current pit remains what it always was: disposable, and thin.
